The Joinery & Furniture Company (JFC) is an established business and has built an enviable reputation for supplying high quality joinery, furniture & contract work for clients who demand the best. Located in Surrey & Sussex, with well equipped workshops and a talented team of highly skilled craftsmen who own and work on projects from start to finish. We are a small business by choice, which means we are able to offer an unrivaled personal service to private and professional clients alike.

Robert started working alongside his father on building sites before studying as a furniture maker at the Guild Hall in London, Highbury College and West Dean College for restoration and wood finishing. Robert worked at Mott Graves Projects Ltd, Dolby & Tickle. He went on to learn the knowledge of traditional joinery by completing 7 years at Cleveland Joinery in Surrey before establishing The Maxwell-Miles Workshop in 2013.

Nathan studied firstly on a furniture design and craftsmanship course at Rycotewood Furniture College, Thame (just outside Oxford). Nathan was fortunate enough to then further his studies on the furniture course at San Diego State University, California. He established RAMSDESIGN in 2006 after 13 years experience as master craftsman and workshop manager at Mott Graves Projects Ltd, a furniture company based in Surrey.

Robert and Nathan joined forces and established The Joinery & Furniture Company Ltd in January 2017.

JFC takes on a wide spectrum of woodworking & building projects, to meet all budgets. We utilize a wide range of hand selected solid timbers and veneers frequently incorporating glass, metal, leather and electrical components.  Aside our joinery & furniture workshop, we manage a trusted team of subcontractors for listed building house renovations and extensions.

Private Clients

Commissioning a project, joinery or piece of furniture for the home or office is a straightforward and enjoyable experience. Having something designed and handmade for you, which incorporates your taste, lifestyle and personality is something that cannot be bought in the high street!

Stage 1:

Contact us and we will discuss your requirements. We will then arrange a meeting to outline a design brief and budget.

Stage 2:

We will prepare sketches / drawings and provide a quotation, along with samples etc, which will be presented for your comments and/or approval.

Stage 3:

Upon acceptance of our proposals we ask for a 50% deposit and set a start date. We welcome clients at any stage to visit our workshop and see their project in progress.

Stage 4:

When the project is made an interim payment for 40% is requested and we are soon ready for delivery and/or installation. We will arrange the best time for you and our team will see the project through to the end, then the balance payment is required.
